How to Write a Good Objective Statement For a Resume
How to Write a Good Objective Statement For a ResumeWriting a good objective statement for a resume is very important, it needs to be filled out carefully and precisely. Many employers ask for a complete list of accomplishments, experience, skills, education, personal references, as well as things such as family life and interests. It is the job of a resume writer to bring these items into one cohesive statement. The document format is important, the best way to do this is to use bullet points and not an elaborate outline. The first paragraph should contain your goal, why you want to get a job. This will show the reader that you have put a lot of thought into this and that you have read your resume and knows what the employer is looking for.Your objective statement should also be written in a manner that is clear and concise. This can be done with phrases such as 'Determine if this position is in line with my goals and objectives'. This will show the reader that you have put thought i nto this statement. Another tip would be to not use 'the position is...' instead of that, use 'exactly what is the opening position.'Next, the rest of the statement should point out specific accomplishments that the future employer should be aware of, these include any leadership or managerial positions the employee has held, company awards or other recognition received, and job performance evaluations. All these points should be noted so that the future employer will know exactly what they are getting. Finally, the employer should also be aware of anything that applies to the job that the employee wants to get, be it previous positions or current employer. For example, if the employee was promoted in the past to manager but wanted to be a designer, he or she could put this information in the objective statement. The next tip is to break up the objective statements in short paragraphs so that they can be easily read, this will make the statement easier to understand and more of a summ ary of the accomplishments the future employer should know about. The letter should be around four or five pages long, this is just the starting point, with the proper research, one can put together the rest of the resume properly. This research should focus on the personal history of the person and what makes them unique from others. It may be a great idea to include a picture or even a short video in the beginning of the document, this is just a way to let the reader know what the future employer is about to be introduced to.A good objective statement for a resume should have everything included in the first paragraph, the next paragraph, the rest of the statement and finally a letter from the future employer that contain a link back to the employer's website or contact page. This will be a great way to show the employer that you have put some thought into this and have read the entire resume and are well aware of what is expected.

BuzzFeeds Director Of Engineering On How He Screens Developers
BuzzFeed's Director Of Engineering On How He Screens Developers PowerToFly talked with BuzzFeed's Director of Engineering, Clément Huyghebaert, on what to search for while recruiting remote developers.1. The primary concern is acceptable correspondence. In the event that you can't speak with the remotes appropriately, it will be an issue, regardless of whether they're amazingly acceptable. How rapidly would they be able to respond to straightforward inquiries? It doesn't need to be entangled if English isn't their first language. Be that as it may, I do search for some command over the English language. That is need no. 1.2. The second thing I search for is mentality. I find that I've regularly had individuals begin whining about different tasks they're taking a shot at, fixing others' code and that sort of stuff. For me, that is an awful sign. It's in every case some portion of the activity, you're continually must fix somebody's code in any event once per day. It's a piece of being a designer. In case you're whining, that is a no-no.3. I'm sea rching for energy?â" ?about our own ventures at BuzzFeed, yet additionally tech when all is said in done. I generally ask, Enlighten me concerning the task you're generally pleased with, regardless of whether it's for work or something as an afterthought. It gives me a thought of what they're amped up for and how to discuss it.4. We give them schoolwork after the meeting that will acquaint them with our code base so it will give them a thought of what they'll be really going after and us a thought of how they're working.5. Being available to new innovations is an or more. Our backend is worked in Perl, which is anything but a hot language nowadays, yet it does incredible things?â" ?we're not changing ceaselessly from it. Now and then it chills individuals since it's not the most recent, brilliant thing. Understanding that you can make any item utilizing any sort of innovation is vital. It's about how you utilize the innovation as opposed to the innovation itself.6. They should be proactive. Since I'm an administrator, I have 10â"15 undertakings going on without a moment's delay. It's better when they keep me refreshed on what they're doing, instead of me checking in.7. Being interested, curious is something to be thankful for. I like when individuals like to attempt new things inside our application. A few people will begin as frontend and afterward they'll need to do backend. I like that. It shows they're intrigued, and they need to find out more and that they're not exhausted.

4 Steps to an Employee-Friendly Workplace - Blogging4Jobs
4 Steps to an Employee-Friendly Workplace - Blogging4Jobs 4 Ways to Achieving Friendly Workplaces 4 Ways to Achieving Friendly Workplaces An employee-friendly workplace is one that places a priority on making employees happy at work. A workforce with a high level of job satisfaction can affect productivity, customer satisfaction, and overall profitability. What can you do to make sure your company is employee-friendly? In todayâs post, we will look at four ways to achieve this. Good Benefits Go Beyond Insurance Insurance has become the main benefit option companies provide to their employees, but it need not be the only benefit. Benefits can include a company discount, incentive programs, discounts to local attractions, on-site recreation activities and more. Many of these things can be low cost or no cost. Wellness programs are another excellent benefits. A wellness program can include discounted gym membership, walking groups, lunchtime yoga classes and a variety of health and fitness related activities. Wellness programs have the added benefit of creating a healthier workforce, and a healthier workforce means fewer sick days. Get To Know Your Employees Remembering an employeeâs name and details about their life shows that you see that person as more than just a warm body filling a job. It is a way to value the individuals that make up your company. Remembering names is one of my weaknesses. I can remember details about the people I meet, but for some reason names do not stick in my brain. For people in upper management and HR, we often interact with a lot of employeesâ"not just the handful of people who report directly to us. The last company I worked at was a grocery chain with over 500 employees, which is a lot of names to remember! I was lucky that employees at the stores wore nametags because it made it easy to remember peopleâs names. And because I knew learning names was a weakness for me, I would often make notes when I met people and mentally quiz myself before checking someoneâs nametag. So, even if remembering names is a weakness for you, make it a priority to change it into a strength .ai-rotate {position: relative;} .ai-rotate-hidden {visibility: hidden;} .ai-rotate-hidden-2 {position: absolute; top: 0; left: 0; width: 100%; height: 100%;} .ai-list-data, .ai-ip-data, .ai-fallback, .ai-list-block {visibility: hidden; position: absolute; width: 50%; height: 1px; z-index: -9999;} Stand By Your Open Door Policy Many companies have open-door policies in their employee handbooks, but how many really abide by this policy? If an employee asks for some time to discuss an issue, do you brush them aside and tell them to come back later? It is not necessary to drop everything to talk to the employee right away. If you are too busy, schedule a time to talk to the employeeâ"preferably by the next day. Scheduling the meeting quickly sends the message to the employee that they are your top priority. Better yet, schedule time to have one-on-one meetings with your employees on a regular basis. This can be a simple 15-minute check-in each week to go over what the employee is working on and any questions they have. When meeting with the employee, silence your phone, put your cell phone away and do not look at your computer screen. Praise Your Employees When you are meeting with your employees, do not forget to praise them. I have worked with managers who get too focused on what their employees need to fix and improve on, and they forget to tell them what they are doing well. Praise can be as simple as telling someone good job. It can also be recognizing someone at a staff meeting or acknowledging their hard work in front of upper management. Having $10 coffee cards or other gift cards on hand can be a good way to reward an employee for a job well done. Celebrate milestones like birthdays and work anniversaries, and occasionally bring in lunch for your whole staff just to say thanks. .ai-rotate {position: relative;} .ai-rotate-hidden {visibility: hidden;} .ai-rotate-hidden-2 {position: absolute; top: 0; left: 0; width: 100%; height: 100%;} .ai-list-data, .ai-ip-data, .ai-fallback, .ai-list-block {visibility: hidden; position: absolute; width: 50%; height: 1px; z-index: -9999;} In the End⦠The key to an employee-friendly workplace is put employees first. Think about what makes you happy and satisfied in your job, and remember to include that in your approach to managing employees. Doing so will have a positive effect on the success of your business and the happiness of the people working for you.

It's additionally an exercise in careful control â" you need to appear to be sure, yet never self-important. Try not to think about a meeting as a reiterating of your resume. The questioner as of now has that data, and will be hoping to perceive what you can do to add to it. There are different sides to a meeting: information and introduction. The information part should originate from a blend of your homework, any past work experience that you have, and your comprehension of the business and its industry that you picked up from learning about them in advance. Introduction is trickier. A prospective employee meeting is something of an in-person promotion, and you must be prepared for it. Here are a portion of the manners in which that you can do that: Understand books and watch recordings on interviewing. Read one of these books on work interviewingucdadxrsxtsxuddytv or look at a YouTube Channel like The Interview Guys. Practice! Do a false meeting with someone else, or tape yourself. Pink Slip and an unforgettable business card
Pink Slip and an unforgettable business card Have you ever seen my business card? If youve been at one of my presentations you probably have one. The front is boring. Just the normal stuff youd expect to see (except I dont put my phone numbers on my business card). The back is what gets chuckles. I bet the rate that people throw my card away is much lower than normal cards heres what the back looks like: Sorry for the blur it is pretty sharp in real life. Some thoughts: Pink is BOLD I never, ever thought Id have a PINK business card! But It is totally ON BRAND! I get LOLs and ROFLs when people see my card. They remember me because I CONNECT with them, and make fun of a situation that is normally grave, sad and serious! I can do that because Im one of YOU. Im not an outsider to unemployment and job search! Its an inside joke, and were both insiders! Can YOU come up with a business card idea that is BOLD, ON-BRAND, helps you CONNECT WITH YOUR AUDIENCE, and shows you are talking with them, not at them, because you are ONE OF THEM? P.S. I blogged about this a long, long time ago but Im doing it again because I got some (er, 2,500) new business cards. Different business cards. The back is what you see above the front. ah, the front it is pure genius! (Ill test them out on my next few trips and if, indeed, it is genius, Ill let you in on it) Pink Slip and an unforgettable business card Have you ever seen my business card? Money Makeover Series Money Plan = Life Plan
Money Makeover Series Money Plan = Life Plan Are you ready for another money makeover check in? Well, get ready for a story thatâs sure to inspire! This week weâre checking in with Kayla, our Money Makeover Participant who was in need of a money plan. After working together on her goals for a month, Kayla now has a solid money plan and so much more. In fact, Kaylaâs whole life has turned around! Find out how setting a money plan in motion enabled Kayla to improve every aspect of her life. Organize Your Finances, Organize Your Life When Kayla and I got started on her money makeover, it was clear that she was doing pretty well with her finances. She had no debt, was contributing to a retirement account, and was even putting money into a savings account each month. So what was the issue? Not having a plan or a purpose for her money. So Kayla created two savings accounts: one for an emergency fund and the other for general savings. Having a separate emergency fund took away the normal anxiety she felt over unplanned purchases. With that anxiety now in check, it became time to discuss Kaylaâs future goals and how her finances would help her achieve them. Talking About the Possibilities Talking about Kaylaâs future wasnât something that happened overnight. She and I had several heart to hearts to learn what she really wanted for her life and thus how her finances could work towards those goals. After weeks of speaking, Kayla and I learned that what she really wanted in life was freedom both in her career and financially. You see, Kayla started out as a freelance writer and now has a great job which allows her to write and do social media strategy every day. While she loves her day job, she began to lose sight of her freelance writing something that sheâs truly passionate about. Since her financial plan was already in place, our talks turned to the subject of helping her get her freelance writing back on track. The two goals we came up with to make this happen are, develop her personal brand and improve her website. Setting the Wheels in Motion Determining a personal brand requires learning how to put your philosophy into words no easy task for anyone. That means Kayla has been on a road to self-discovery, and itâs yielding incredible results! Her website is getting better and better but, more importantly, taking the time to work on it has shown her just how far sheâs come since college graduation. When Kayla first started her website, she was a recent college graduate desperate for work and would take on any freelance writing job she could get. She spent a great deal of time wondering if anything would ever pan out for her, as so many new college graduates do. But since that time sheâs built an impressive array of freelance work and has made quite the name for herself. That means she now has the ability to pick and choose projects sheâs truly passionate about. Added bonus: the security that comes with the knowledge that she has the ability to easily earn extra income on the side if she needs it. Feeling Empowered in All Aspects of Life Kayla has come incredibly far in a very short time. All in all, sheâs found that sheâs more relaxed, feels more in control, and feels like there is a world of possibility in front of her. Could it get any better than that? It can! The thing I havenât mentioned yet is that Kayla went through a pretty tough breakup earlier this year. This was an ending that led her to many new beginnings a new place to live, her new job, and being on her own for the first time in many years. It wasnât an easy transition to say the least. But now sheâs been able to move forward and is even dating again. And this time, sheâs dating while feeling totally financially secure which she says is pretty awesome! A whole new world has opened up to her as sheâs come full circle in every way possible. Whatâs Next Whatâs been the driver to Kaylaâs success so far? Keeping dates for when things have to get done and having an accountability buddy. Next, Kaylaâs ready to start dipping into the world of investing and learning how to make her money grow. Sheâs taking retirement training classes at work to grow her knowledge and is looking into websites like https://www.betterment.com/ to see how she can start investing on her own. Her next action step is to research how to invest and to determine what portion of her savings sheâs willing to try this with each month. Stay tuned to see how she does! Iâm turning 26 soon and the first six months of my 25th year were the worst, while the second six months have been the best of my life. When Kayla told me this, my heart filled with gratitude that Iâve even been able to have a small hand in helping her this way. It just goes to show how taking one small step forward can literally turn your entire life around. I donât know about you, but I canât wait to hear what Kayla accomplishes in her final month of the money makeover!

20+ Resume Lifehacks to Double Your Salary
20+ Resume Lifehacks to Double Your Salary Do you consider a resume your ticket to a job interview? I do not want to disappoint you, but its a dead horse: Your resume is a bill showing them how much you cost as a professional. Look: Hiring managers read hundreds of resumes daily. They do not have time to read all those manuscripts about your hobbies, courses you finished when you were 12, etc. Ive asked my fellow recruiter who lived through ten years of checking about 10,000 resumes to reveal what hiring managers expect to see in resumes and what applicants can do to make their resumes worth checking. The below 20+ lifehacks from the expert will help you build a resume that rocks and brings you job positions of your dream, especially if you are a graduate looking for your first job. Your resume is not a ticket to interviews Many consider resumes a ticket to interviews, believing they serve to help applicants get a call from a hiring manager. Its not true! Your resume is what shows them your cost. If you are not able to demonstrate it in a resume, it will be difficult to do that during the interview. Think how to sell your resume Make them want to buy your resume. There is a 90% chance that a recruiter will be the first person to get your resume. Lets imagine it an interface of some computer program: if a recruiter does not like the interface of your resume, there are lower chances he will want to continue working with it. Earn maximum points from a recruiter A recruiter gets 100-300 resumes daily, spending 5-10 seconds on each. What does he check there? your name and photo your job experience your education Every resume has to pass a kind of scoring from a recruiter: if it gets enough scores, a recruiter starts working with this resume (he calls, invites you to interviews, sends your resume to big bosses, etc.). Moreover, each section of your resume can add some scores or take them back from you. What can help you get scores? Customize your resume You will not find a one-size-fits-it-all resume. They all work for different job positions, and the #1 task of every resume is to demonstrate the most important aspects of a profession. For example: Who? a marketer. What to show? complete projects. Who? a designer. What to show? creativity. Who? an accountant. What to show? perfection. Who? an IT. What to show? skills. Who? a seller. What to show? wheres money. Who? an office manager. What to show? flexibility. Demonstrate your success Your resume is not a piece of paper telling about your work, education, and training. A million dollar resume will tell the story of your success. What does it mean? The story of your success in a resume demonstrates the ways your education, career path, and training are relevant to your qualities and job position you are looking. Learn from landing pages I bet you saw many awesome landing pages on the Web. Follow their example while creating your resume: make it interesting to read, make its every phrase tell something important, and make its navigation (sections) easy to find. One more thing: follow the norms of resume building. If you are not a designer or representative of a creative profession, do not use images in your resume. Use business English Recruiters pay much attention to words and word constructions you use in your resume. Follow the structure Most recruiters consider this resume structure ideal: Your full name. Your photo. (A city and phone number. Dont write a post address: a recruiter is not going to come to your house and check if you live there.) Your goal. (A job position you want to take.) Key competencies. (Your professional knowledge, skills, and achievements. You can add some personal qualities, too.) Courses and pieces of training. Your ob experience, starting from the latest one. Additional info. (It can be languages or computer programs you know, driving license, etc.) Format it Calibri or Arial fonts (size 10-12) with no tables work the best. Do you like any other fonts? This article will help you choose the most efficient ones for writing your resume. Combine several jobs into one Its okay to work at one company for 2-3 years, otherwise, they can call you a job hopper. Its fine to mention several places where you worked for 1-1,5 years, but if all resume looks like this, its a sign for a recruiter to lower its quality. Where possible, try to combine several jobs into one: this variant will fit you if you have a project work or if you change offices within one holding company. Follow the size The ideal size for your resume is two pages. One page is fine if you are an entrant, but there is no need to write 3-4 pages: an 80% chance is that recruiters will not read those pages, setting that info aside. Share your achievements If you plan to remember at least one word from this article, let it be about achievements. They add 50% of value to your resume. A hiring manager cant interview everyone who sends resumes, and that is why a winner will be the candidate, telling about achievements and lucky to kindle a recruiters interest. What is an achievement? Its your measurable success, expressed in numbers, terms, or significant changes for the company where you worked. For example: Increased the sales by 30% for 3 months (a store manager). Brought a new product to the market for 4 months, which has helped to earn $800,000 for 6 months (a marketing director). Tell about your qualities Today more and more attention is paid to personal qualities of employees. If we analyzed what they evaluate during interviews, it would likely be as follows: 40% professional skills; 40% personal qualities; 20% motivation. Personal qualities, especially if they meet job requirements, are extremely significant. Not a long time ago it was enough to list them in your resume, but now you should confirm their presence. Try writing like this: Initiative: developed and implemented the strategy of my department work after the head had left. Its important to provide examples. Do not cite your duty regulation Mention the duties you carried out, but dont just list as if they were written in your duty regulation. Read some job vacancies to get the idea of what is worth mentioning, and then write them out in order of importance: place the most significant ones first (strategy development, budget planning, new products output) and end up with mentioning the least important ones (reports preparation, etc.) Sell the job position Job titles and lists of companies are, in fact, what recruiters are looking to see in resumes. Its like a customer who checks supermarket shelves in search of familiar brands. These lines form the initial cost of your resume for a recruiter, and he starts looking for details afterward. Say no to standard phrases about your goal Avoid all those cliché phrases about the goals you have. Just mention job positions of your interest and forget the âI-dream-of-interesting-job-to-make-the-most-of-my-skillsâ part forever. Always check spelling and grammar No comments here. About 5% of resumes contain elementary grammar mistakes, and its not very pleasant for a recruiter to notice them. Save your resume in DOCX No PDF â" many recruiters make changes or notes before sending your resume to big bosses. No ODT â" it may fail to open on some computers. No DOC â" it is a sign your resume comes from the past (the era before Office 2007). No RTF â" it usually weighs more than alternatives. Choose a right file name The name of your resume file should contain your name and wanted job position. It will be more convenient for a recruiter to find it at a computer, re-send it, and so on. Plus, this small step makes your resume a bit more valuable for a recruiter. Dont forget about covering letters A good covering letter may add 20% of value to your resume. Its not obligatory to write it, but if you decide to create it, here is a simple structure to follow: Anything else for you to remember? Forget about unclear abbreviations Paraphrase standard sentences Create a good email box Remove your marital status Explain all gaps in job experience Dont mention the date of your last quit Dont write the reasons why youve been fired Dont explain the details of your resume Recommendations are not a must Dont mention the first place of you work I bet youve found some interesting lifehacks here to use for writing your resume. If you have something to add or disagree with mentioned statements, welcome to comments! _____________________________________________________________________________ Lesley Vos is a career strategist for college students, passionate blogger, and writer.
